Doors and where messages go

How you reach your agents, and how they reach you.

A door is a way to reach an agent. Every agent has web chat. Slack and Telegram are chat doors you connect from the agent's page in the console, and the chief of staff can also use one mailbox through an e-mail door.

Web chat

Web chat is the first door and always exists. You use it from the console. When an agent has something for you and no other door is connected, it leaves the message in your web chat inbox, with Reply and Mark as read, and a dot beside Chat in the sidebar while something is unread.

Telegram

Create a bot with Telegram's own bot account, paste the bot token into the agent's "Connect doors" section and press Connect. The console checks the token, switches the door on and shows one link. Tap it and press Start; that is the whole connection.

Slack

Create the Slack app from the manifest the console gives you (it carries your installation's own addresses), install it in your workspace, paste the bot token and signing secret, and press Connect. The console then shows one message to send to the app in a direct message.

E-mail

The chief of staff can work on one mailbox you choose, connected through Google's consent screen. It needs a Google client with Gmail and Calendar scopes, set up on the server first. The agent only ever uses its selected mailbox.

Choosing where messages go

Agents start some conversations themselves: the morning and evening brief, deadline warnings, e-mail triage, meeting follow-ups and more. On the agent's Schedules tab, a grid lets you number the doors for each kind of message: try Telegram first, then Slack, say. A door that is not connected is skipped, and web chat is always the last resort, so a message is never dropped. When a message went somewhere other than you asked, the activity record says why.

Quiet hours and do-not-disturb apply to whichever door is used. The console refuses a brief hour that would fall inside the quiet hours of the door it goes to.

The step-by-step instructions are in the install guide: doors and a tour of the console.
